Beth has over 8 years of healthcare experience in clinical nutrition. She has worked with both adults and children in medical nutrition therapy and counseling. Active in running, swimming, tennis, and cycling, she has completed several runs and rides including the Twin Cities Marathon, Madison Half Marathon, The Relay in San Francisco, and The Fat Tire Festival. Beth supports the sport of competitive swimming as a board member of Southeastern Aquatics Swim Team. She is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association, a Certified Dietitian in Wisconsin and a License Dietetic Nutritionist in Illinois. Beth graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Mount Mary College and a MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT

Avoid Injury and Stay-in-Play

Identification of poor posture, muscle imbalances, and problematic basic movement patterns can provide valuable information for predicting risk of injury. These early indicators are extremely helpful in the development of conditioning strategies for improving sport specific movement efficiency and minimizing the occurrence of joint/muscle micro-trauma during training and sports participation.

The Functional Movement Assessment is a 45 minute detailed assessment, with a 20 minute follow-up consult with the athlete, parent and/or trainer, performed by a licensed physical therapist. It includes a basic movement pattern evaluation and physical therapy tests to identify:
1) Posture and alignment of the spine, pelvis, shoulder blade, ribcage and foot &ankle.
2) Normality, symmetry and balance of movement between the left and right sides of the body.
3) Specific strength, range-of-motion, flexibility and muscle quality abnormalities.
(e.g. tightness or spasms).
